DARK FANTASY ROLEPLAYING
The Black Company is a fantasy roleplaying game built for fast, suspenseful play.
When hunting the Rebel or searching a haunted ruin faces your Soldier with a threat, roll dice to test a skill. Failing the test means emotional stress that can drive you to destruction, physical damage that can kill you, or the loss of a crucial ally or piece of intelligence.
Skills like Strength and Soldiering describe Soldiers and what they can achieve, but just as important are the things that brought them to the Company and hold them together.
If you’re hurt, find a healer and get it stitched up. If you’re stressed, find a tavern and drink it off, find a brawl and fight it off—or just bitch and moan until your squadmates are ready to throw you off a bridge.
Key Features:
- A single roll of percentile dice (1 to 100) determines any outcome
- Only players roll dice, freeing the GM to interpret & improvise
- No hit points. A Soldier has only a single damage state.
- No sanity points. A Soldier has only a single stress state.
- Feats and flaws flesh add details and individuality

A MERCILESS WORLD OF BRUTAL MAGIC
Novelist Glen Cook wrote The Black Company as a veteran who wanted to see the soldier’s experience in the wars and adventures of heroic fantasy. The Black Company Roleplaying Game puts players in that world of bloodshed and shocking sorceries. Your hardened but human Soldiers face seemingly impossible odds for each other and for the honor of the Company.
You fight in a continent-spanning war for a merciless empire. The enemy calls it a war between good and evil. Those who know what really drives the leaders of the rebellion call it a war between evil and far worse.
Don’t ask the soldiers of the Black Company. They only want to do their job, look out for each other, and live another day.

JOIN THE RANKS AND MAKE YOUR STAND

...or face other campaigns unrecorded in the Books of Croaker. Does the war leading up to the Battle of Charm indeed last only a year? What might have been left out of the Books of Croaker, or changed after the fact? What deadly mysteries might your Soldiers uncover to change the war for the Empire? What might those surprises mean for the Company?
Take your place in the Company. Your war is waiting.
